First Aid measures (7,8)

1. If you reach a part of the body of the buried victim, immediately use your hand to create
aban air passage to the face.
2. Unblock and keep the respiratory tract open. Immediately check breathing and pulse.
3. Place an unconscious victim in a stable position on his or her side.
4. If the victim is not breathing, start artificial respiration while he or she is still partly buried and
abstart cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR
(9)) on a hard surface (such as skis or packed snow)
abimmediately after removing the buried victim. Continue resuscitation until care can be transferred
abto rescue personnel.
5. Protect the victim from the cold and wind with clothing and head covering. Transfer the victim onto a dry surface.
Take a refresher first aid course including Basic Life Support every 1-2 years.
