How uninjured group members should react
|

|
1. Goal: use all possible means to dig out the victim within 15 minutes. (6)
abWatch the skier in the avalanche and mark the last-seen point. 2. Call for help by radio or cell phone if available. 3. All uninjured skiers should immediately search the primary search area for at least 20 minutes. 4. A member of the group must go and report the accident (if unable to call by phone or radio). 5. Locate the victim using an avalanche beacon and at the same time use your eyes aband ears to search on the surface. 6. If you locate the victim, evaluate the depth and the precise position of the buried victim abusing an avalanche probe, then leave it in place. 7. Immediately start digging with all available shovels, not directly from above, abbut indirectly, from the sides. |
